Since I arrived in The Magnolia State, I have been searching and searching for old window panes. I visited a few antique stores and they weren’t my cup of tea…they were the expensive antiques. Like the $200 for a crumbling wooden chair antiques. I was also searching for an old chair but decided that dream would have to die for now! I like thrifting, not antiquing.
This past week after chasing a girl down in the lunch room to ask where she got her cute pants- yes, I do this on a regular basis – I found out there was a cute thrift store in town! Now, back to the pants…y’all might think I’m crazy but there really isn’t anywhere to shop in town so I find out how to get stuff whenever I get the chance! I take that back, there is one store that has Life is Good, Vera Bradley and Sperry’s all in the same store but that’s a post for another day!
Now back to the thrift store; I’m all over the place today. They have clothes, cheap antiques, purses, shoes, etc! All the clothes are priced at an average of $10/item. They have J. Crew, Ralph Lauren, etc. Bottom line, it’s good stuff.
If you are in the Starkville area I would check it out. It’s on Hwy 12 on the west side of town by Regions Bank and Zaxby’s.
Those of you who know me know that 1) I love blogging 2) I love reading other peoples blogs. I think everyone should have a blog…I have probably even told some of you that! One of the blogs I like to read is Nesting Place. The Nester’s motto is, “It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful”. The Nester is pretty much my hero. I like her because 1) she can relate to decorating on a budget and does it herself! 2) she has lived in homes that she owned and rentals; all of which she made “her home”. She knows how to make due with what she has on hand and can make anything look beautiful in her home. If you don’t believe me check out her site…she found a large creepy owl at a thrift store and made it look neat! The nesting place blog…
She was the inspiration for my living room… I think I almost have it done! What do you think?
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I found this little bakery one day when I was driving around trying to find an antique store. I never found the antique store but I did find a delicious Snickerdoodle cupcake! It was delish! So if you are ever in the area, this place is a must. I can see myself visiting this place to grade papers, study, etc!

While I am far away from home, I am very blessed to have family members nearby that I can visit on weekends! My Aunt Sandy and her family live about 3 hours to the west of me. I decided this past weekend would be a good time to visit before school starts up and the chaos begins!
They live on a little lake and so it is probably the most relaxing place you can be…I love is there! Friday afternoon Aunt Sandy and I went out on the paddle boat for a little evening stroll. We had a blast and it was nice to be able to look at all the houses along the lake and visit! We only had one scare where we thought something was sticking it’s head up above the water and soon discovered it was a stick! I was worried about gators and Aunt Sandy was worried about snakes…thankfully it was neither!
We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing and catching up! Saturday Aunt Sandy and I made some burlap curtains for her kitchen (that post will come later this week!) and cousin Bear and I watched a movie that night and hung out while the parents were out partying… Okay, they really weren’t “partying”. They had to go to a couples shower but I do think they had a good time.
Sunday afternoon we went out on the boat and swam in the lake! It was a nice day…not too hot and a slight breeze! I had a great time and can’t wait until I get to go back. It was a nice little break before school starts Wednesday.
THANK YOU BOYETTE FAMILY!
